Naturals in the City (Lagos’ quarterly natural lifestyle meet-up) is back again, this Saturday 17th September, 2016 at our usual joint, Café Neo, 6 Agoro Odiyan Street, off Adeola Odeku, Victoria Island, Lagos. It’s a full, eventful day, from 1 to 6pm.
We have a super diverse lineup for you guys. We mean it this time when we say we aren’t going to wait for anybody. If you’re late, too bad for you.
So. What have we got planned?
1 – 2pm: Two Workshops AKA. Free classes, where you get to learn valuable stuff from experts.
Last time, at NITC Workshops, we learnt how to do our eyebrows, and how to twist.
This time, you can learn how to put on a full face of makeup, from model and personal stunner, Whitney Madueke.
How does she look so flawless? Come and she will show you how. Highlight, contour? All this sounds like Greek to you? (same, girl, same!) Come, and Whitney will show you how to get your makeup poppin. A FULL face. In a different setting, we’d call this what it is, a makeup masterclass, and have you pay 10k for it but no, you’re coming to NITC and you can learn for free. The catch? You have to be early. 1pm, we move.
Makeup not really your thing? Or you have it all sorted out? Gotcha. Our second workshop, is a Yoga class, with yogi Nsa Etuk. Get your zen flowing and your breathing in order- come learn the basics of yoga. If you’ve ever wondered if yoga is your thing, if it’s worth paying for classes to attend (yes it is), but if you’ve ever questioned, this is your chance to try it. Again, for free. To participate, be early lovers. Be early. 1pm and Nsa’s class will start. Also, it would help for you to come with a pair of tights or comfortable pants. Shorts are fine too. Just so you’re comfortable. There’s a bathroom at the Café, you can change outfits before the meet-up starts proper.
Both workshops will run from 1-2pm. All you have to do is show up early!
2:15 to 2:45pm: Yoga for Life.
Are you living intentionally? You should be. Nsa will be sharing her yoga journey with us, the health benefits of practicing yoga, and the connection between yoga and mindful living. Come with any question you have about yoga. Is yoga the same thing as soul travel? Is it spiritual? How can you start practicing? Anything, really. No such thing as a stupid question. Come hear it from a pro!
2:45-3:15pm: Are You Dressed to Kill?
We will be considering this topic literally at NITC. The clothes you wear could be killing you, especially the ones closest to you, your undergarments. Mmmhmm. Join us as we discuss the what, the why, and how we can all do better in choosing our clothes and underwear.
3:30 to 4:00pm: Harnessing the Power of Herbs for Health! A Show and Tell
A retired nurse with over 30 years experience will be in the building, and you do not want to miss out on all this knowledge. As a nurse, she is well versed in assisting doctors and patients with medicine as we know it, but she also has a wealth of experience in healing natural herbs. This will be a very demonstrative class. She will be sharing what herbs can be used for certain conditions, and more importantly, HOW. She will be touching on Fibroids in particular, amongst others. We don’t know about you guys, but this isn’t one to miss!
4:00 to 4:30pm: OMG, GMOs! Let’s Talk, GMOs and You.
THIS, y’all. This. What are GMOs & why should you care about them? GMO stands for “Genetically Modified Organism”
We don’t know if you’ve heard, but the Nigerian Government has officially let Genetically Modified seeds into our country. Yep, they’ve pretty much shaken on it with Monsanto, and have started pushing the propaganda small small. This is crazy. Why should you be bothered? There are genuine concerns about these “Genetically Modified” seeds that will grow into food, and the effects on our bodies and the environment. Because of this, many people in the United States and around the world are demanding “non-GMO” foods. And yet, the Nigerian government is welcoming GMOs with open arms- as if we don’t have enough problems already! Dr Patrick Ijewere of Carib Health (and the Wellness Half-Hour on Inspiration 92.3FM) will be back with us on Saturday, spilling all the tea on GMOs, helping us properly appreciate the risks, and why we should really care. Let’s get this really important conversation going!
4:30 to 5:00pm: Your Hair & You
One of the original founders of Naturals in the City, Screwy Hair Girl will be handling this final segment. It will be fun!
Between the workshops, and the power talks, there’ll be lots to shop from our vendors!
It’s a full day, we know. When you get hungry, New Nigerian Kitchen pioneer Kitchen Butterfly will be there for you serving noms! You can also grab a coffee and snacks at Café Neo!
We look forward to hanging out with you this Saturday!
Please bring a friend, or five!
Help us spread the word
